WHOIS

BarefootJoey

Welcome, brothers & sisters! I'm BarefootJoey — a curious mind, independent builder, patented inventor, and lifelong learner with a passion for creative expression, solving problems, and spreading the love.

My experience spans software development, hardware design/manufacturing/distribution, CAD, financial services, and quantitative trading. I love understanding how things work, imagining how they could work better, and turning ideas into tangible solutions — both digital and physical.

I created this site to share the fruits of those passions through free trading tools, open-source software, and original music:

  • Trading tools - Indicators, research, and analytical tools on the TradingView page
  • Software - Open-source projects, experiments, and engineering work on GitHub
  • Music - Original recordings and creative expression on the Spotify page

I believe knowledge grows when it's shared, good engineering solves real problems, and worthwhile ideas deserve to be built.

Almost everything you'll find here is freely available. Some projects are personal explorations, others are contributions to the wider community, and some reflect the same skills I apply to professional work.

I hope you find something useful, discover something unexpected, or leave inspired to create something of your own.

README

I've always preferred going barefoot whenever possible.

Yes, selectively. My work spans financial technology, trading systems, software architecture, data engineering, CAD & circuitboard design, APIs, and workflow automation, with additional experience in the employee benefits and financial services industries. I enjoy solving technically challenging problems, particularly where software, financial systems, and real-world business operations intersect. I'm open to well-defined consulting engagements, custom development, technical partnerships, as well as longer-term collaborations when there's a clear objective, a good fit, and mutual value where my experience can make a meaningful contribution. If you have something worthwhile in mind, feel free to get in touch.

Absolutely! Some of my favorite work comes from exchanging ideas and building alongside other developers, traders, researchers, and musicians. I welcome thoughtful collaboration on open-source projects, technical research, creative endeavors, and commercial opportunities. The best partnerships start with shared curiosity, complementary skills, and a clear purpose. If you've got an interesting idea, I'd love to hear about it.

Start with the book linked on the indicator; that's the real guide. The description also points to the reading that matters, and the podcasts are a short overview of what a tool does, not a full tutorial.

Feature requests and suggestions are always welcome. I prioritize improvements that benefit the broader community, align with the project's direction, and can be maintained responsibly. For highly specialized requirements or custom implementations, professional development arrangements may be more appropriate.

Thank you for catching a bug! Please tell me the indicator, the TradingView version, and how to reproduce it. I maintain the public tools, and I'll fix a real bug.

That's mighty kind of you, and I genuinely appreciate the thought! But I don't accept tips or donations for my public work. If something I've shared has helped you, pay it forward. Share what you've learned, contribute to an open-source project, help someone solve a problem, or simply do something kind. Good things have a way of coming back around.

Yes! Trading, code, music, or anything we both actually care about. I can't answer everything right away, but I read them, and I reply when I have something useful to say.

Read the indicator description first. The book link is in there, and that's what the script was built from. If you're still stuck, please send the specific question.

My public indicators, open-source projects, and educational write-ups are generally free, and I intend to keep them that way. I don't sell trading signals or promise shortcuts to success. Professional services are a separate matter. Custom engineering, private integrations, consulting, and dedicated development require time, expertise, and accountability, so those services may be offered commercially. I believe in sharing knowledge freely without suggesting that someone's professional time has no value. Please be mindful of impersonators. If I offer a product or service, you'll find it linked here. If it isn't linked here, it isn't mine.
